Past in the Present: A Living Heritage Approach - Meteora, Greece
By Ioannis Poulios
ISBN: 978-1-909188-27-3 and Open Access
Ubiquity Press.

The Past in the Present deals with the complexities in the operation and management of living heritage sites. It presents a new interpretation of such sites based on the concept of continuity, and its evolution to the present. It is demonstrated that the current theoretical framework and practice of conservation, as best epitomised in a values-based approach and the World Heritageconcept, is based on discontinuity created between the monuments(considered to belong to the past) and the people of the present, thus seemingly unable to embrace living heritage sites...

Revue Patrimoine Mondial Nº 73 - Notre planète protégée
ISSN: 1020-4520

The History Committee of the French Ministry of Culture has just made public a collection of texts
gathered and presented by
Philippe Poirrier under the title: Quelle politique pour la culture ?, Florilège des débats (1955-2014)
Collection "Doc en poche - Regard d'expert"
ISBN: 978-2-11-009822-1.
Year: 2014

The ambition behind this anthology is to set out the meaning of the cultural policy conducted in France during the past fifty years or so.
The selected method consists in giving prominence to the debates raised by the "policy" promoted by Public Authorities. The selection of the 62 texts gathered into the brochure allows to perceive the evolution of the selling points that have slowly created the legitimacy of a public policy on culture and aims also at grasping the general meaning of the cultural policy, without going - except for sufficiently significant exceptions - into the detail of the different sectoral policies .

Sobre campos de batalla. Arqueología de conflictos bélicos en América Latina
Autores: Carlos Landa y Odlanyer Hernández de Lara, editores
Edita: Aspha Ediciones
ISBN: 978-987-45321-5-2
Year: 2014

Documental "Past with Future: From Archaeology to World Heritage"
UNESCO World Heritage sites are the best, official and valued proof of the importance the past has in the present. But all the work behind it, which makes enjoying Cultural heritage possible, especially from an archaeological perspective, is almost unknown to visitors and inhabitants. There is a great gap between what experts or people responsible for the management of this heritage understand, and what visitors and inhabitants perceive or appreciate about World Heritage. The remaining challenge is to bring citizen and expert positions closer, on decisions such as what to show, what to preserve, what to value of
the common past, transcending the current borders and modifying them, going beyond the political and official recognition of these places by UNESCO.
This documentary has been made as a result of a research project led by the Complutense University of Madrid. The sites displayed together with the interviews that appear are just a "small evidence" of the rich heritage existing in Spain, and as a consequence, of the importance that its proper management and use have in improving the life of the citizens.
